Video Questions

1. What role do you   think the Nile River played in Egypt’s prosperity? Do you think ancient Egypt could have become  a majestic civilization without the Nile? Egyptian 5,000-year history. I do not think that it could because the Nile was a huge part of the development of the major civilizations of Egypt. 


2. What were some of the ways Egyptians harnessed the power of the Nile? What was the  primary route of transportation they developed, and what were the techniques ancient Egyptians used to develop them? canals were constructed to be able to transport things by the river then having ti build roads, cars, and things like that. The primary routes were the canals and they made sure that they had canal diggers and engineers that could improve the idea and structure of the canals.  


3. How would you describe the power structure of ancient Egypt? What does it mean to describe Egyptian kings and queens as “divine”? What powers did they believe this enabled them? The power structure was just Pharoahs. They built up tombs and temples that were used to praise the past and present Pharoahs. The power of supernatural beings and the past Pharaohs that had been put into the tombs. 


4. What were  some examples of the challenges laborers faced in constructing Egypt’s monuments? What do you think motivated them? Some of the examples were canal diggers and engineers, the Egyptians that built the tombs and pyramids, the Egyptians that worked under and for Pharoah, statue builders, and architects of the pyramids. 


5. What  are some of the connections between Egyptian engineering and the expansion of its empire? The engineers helped to improve the canals and the pyramids and the way that they used the Nile to help them advance Egypt. The engineers were the people that helped work on the canals helped the "flow" of transportation and the transporting of different goods for trade and other skills sent down through the Nile. 


6. Why are Egyptian obelisks considered one of the most amazing architectural feats ever achieved? Do you think they could be constructed today? They are one of the most amazing architectural feats because they are still standing to this day and they preserve all the artifacts that were put into them when the Egyptians put in after they built the pyramids and found the artifacts.

Reading guide:  1. What were the causes of each condition that led to the fall of the Roman empire?        a. Disruption Trade -  Hostile tribes outside of the boundaries of the empire interfered with the trade.      b. The Power of the Church Tuesday, March 5th, 2020

Reading Guide:  ACTIONS = ORANGE  CAUSES = GREEN  OUTCOMES = BLUE  1. Otto invades Italy on pope’s behalf.  Fallowing Charlemagne's footsteps.  Otto was rewarded by being crowned emperor. 2.
